A2021-012_-_Return_to_Play.pdf (

June 4, 2021

In light of Ontario Government Roadmap to reopen, the Thorold Soccer Club is planning for a return to soccer. We are still waiting for more information from the government and Ontario Soccer Association with regards to the specific return to play guidelines, restrictions and protocols. We are hopeful that there will be a season in some capacity.

In order to get players insured and eligible to participate in soccer activities we will need to complete player registration ONLINE ONLY - registration link above. We will circle back and collect fees as we move along. These are the following steps we are to follow, please remember these are tentative and changes may be made as we move along.

Step 1: Tentative start date: June 15th, 2021. This stage will allow travel teams to start training with players in a group of no more than 10.

Step 2: Tentative start date: July 6th, 2021. This stage will allow travel and house league teams to run practices and play games with restrictions.

Step 3: Tentative start date: July 27th, 2021. This stage will allow travel and house-league teams to run practices and play games with LESS restrictions than step 2.

To facilitate a season, there will be many challenges including field availability, scheduling and referee shortages that the club will need to manage. This means that the 2021 season will unfortunately NOT be a normal season. Players, coaches, referees and parents that choose to participate will need to be flexible, understanding and patient as we work through any and all challenges that we may face. Due to the later start date and in anticipation of changing government restrictions, some of the ways that the season could be different will include the following;

 - Weekend games (especially for travel teams)
-  Later kick off times
-  Possibility of 2 games per week
-  A shortened season due to COVID-19 restrictions

Online registration will close on JUNE 18th, 2021. There will be NO in-person registration under any circumstances. Please register ASAP to ensure your spot for this upcoming season.

Before committing to the season and making registration payments, please remember that we all need to be flexible and understanding. Changes may happen without notice that are beyond our control. With regards to the Thorold Soccer Club overall season schedule, we will post more information in the coming days as it becomes available.

Thank you for your patience,
Thorold Soccer Club
